Ingredients / Directions:
Here's the basic recipe:
- steep 2 c of poppy-seeds in 3 c of boiling water for 10 minutes
- blend the above mixture (in a blender) at a high speed till smooth (3-4 min)
- let cool for 5 min
- strain into a clean bowl using several layers of cheese cloth (do it 1/2 c at a time and squeezed milk through by wringing)
- whisk in 2 Tbsp sugar and 1 tsp almond extract (I would use maple syrup or honey and a pinch of salt)
- chill then serve
(2 one-cup servings)
* if making this raw, soak poppy-seeds in room temperature water for 3-6 hours instead of using boiling water
Here's a recipe for a traditional Lithuanian Christmas/solstice drink my partner clipped from a newspaper. I have a thing for poppy-seeds, so this sounds awesome!
